A walk in the park seemed simple enough. Even with all the rampant monsters lurking about.
In all honesty, Ace was grateful to be out of the apartment. Sitting around by herself for God knows how long had left her bored, restless and lonely... by her own accord, to be fair. It felt nice to just walk around, even despite the shame she felt exposing her half-demonic form for the world to see. Plus, looking around, her slightly-decayed, horned, bug-eyed, bat-winged appearance clearly wasn't the most horrific sight the island had to offer. There were more terrifying creatures in the streets, and much more dangerous ones at that, and most people who had undergone little to no change due to the curse had bigger problems to deal with than a fallen angel that meant them no harm.
Nonetheless, the occasional stares and gasps Ace received hurt. A lot.
She kept her eyes on the ground as she walked along the path through Portal Park, her hand tightly gripping Patrick's. She only looked up every now and then to briefly investigate the sounds made by passing monsters. There weren't as many averages joes to scare out here, a fact comforting enough on its own, but trouble could still pop up at any time. She anticipated it. At least she had Patrick to inject some much-needed optimism into the scene.
Of course, there was still the issue of their... companion.

"Well, this is... nice..." Perhaps it was a bit of a stretch to say that Patrick was injecting optimism into their adventure, but darn it if he wasn't trying. Being surrounded by freaks and strange beasts was unnerving enough, but Ace was putting a bit of a damper on things.
Still, Patrick smiled and swung their arms as they walked along. "Hey, come on! You wanted to go out and about, and here we are! We can find a way to have fun, can't we?"
He jumped slightly and looked down when their aforementioned companion gave a loud snarl. Evan had gone rigid, shooting a death glare and baring his fangs at a nearby imp, crouched as though intent on attacking. His stance and appearance would've been quite intimidating if not for the Ghostbusters tee-shirt his master had dressed him in.
"Evan, no," Patrick sternly insisted. "Follow."
Obediently, Evan relaxed, growled at the impish creature over his shoulder and continued walking alongside Patrick and Ace, down on all fours in a gorilla-like posture.
He still wasn't sure what "Evan" meant, but regardless, his master's will was all that mattered.

Ace sighed and attempted a smile, albeit a painfully fake one. "I know, I know. We can have some fun. I just wish we could do it under better circumstances."
She looked around, keeping a close eye out for any sign of danger or potential humiliation. "It's kinda freaky out here. Don't get me wrong, I know that was the whole purpose for this adventure, but... I feel like maybe we have more to worry about than we anticipated."

"Hey, I've dealt with shadow demons, ghosts, monsters, witches, and a body-snatching demon," Patrick chuckled. "It's a mad world out here. I'm ready for it."
He put an arm around Ace and smiled sweetly at her. "You gotta lighten up, alright? No matter what we come across, we'll either befriend it or kick its butt! Y'know, like Undertale! It's supposed to be scary, but a fun kind of scary!"
Evan narrowed his eyes at Ace, questioning why his master was allying himself with this odd creature. It wasn't like Evan would act out against the master's orders, but he still had to wonder. In the meantime, he occupied himself by sniffing the ground like a dog, even if he didn't actually have the nose for tracking.

Ace did her best to maintain a grin as Patrick talked, but eventually she had to drop it and lower her head. "That's, uh... That sounds great and all, but... Th-That's not exactly what I'm worried about."

Patrick blinked and stared up at her worriedly. "What? W-What do you mean? What else...?"

A figure watched their movements through blind eyes hidden behind a black sash.

With a stiff sigh, Ace shook herself off and said, "N-Never mind. You're right. There's already plenty to concern ourselves with. Might as well have some fun with it. Otherwise it'll all just drive us crazy." She tried to lighten the mood with a chuckle as she continued, "I can't be wasting the whole night just worrying about myself."
Her attempts at lightheartedness quickly backfired, turning her halfhearted smile into a panicked stare. In just that one sentence, she said too much.

"Aw, you ain't gotta worry!" Patrick boldly, playfully insisted, flexing his nonexistent muscles and completely misinterpreting Ace's concern. "You've got your big, strong mage to look out for ya! Nothing's gonna scare your socks off while I'm around! No siree!"
Evan tensed up again, his head swiveling around as if he sensed an unwelcome presence, to which he of course responded with a threatening snarl.
"Shh," Patrick shushed him. "Calm down. Follow."

"Animals tend to be great judges of character," whispered a voice as it's keeper made themselves known. A female form with eyes covered by a black piece of cloth seemed to watch the trio as she walked closer. Two oddly shaped wings came from her back.

Ace forced herself to snicker at Patrick's playful showmanship. Yes, she was concerned about her safety. That was all she meant. What else was there to worry about?
Right...?
She perked up and turned around when Evan started growling again, her gaze following his until she caught sight of the figure approaching them. Immediately, Ace took on a defensive stance. This was the first creature to have spoken to them, and until she knew what its intent was, she was going to keep her guard up.

"What? What's the prob- Oh." Patrick froze as soon as he noticed the newcomer. Evan and Ace's defensiveness prompted him to be wary as well. Although... had he seen this girl before? It had been such a long time and so much had happened in that time, it was hard to recall.
Evan quickly threw himself between Patrick and the woman, still growling at the latter all the while. Unlike any time before when he was on his own, this time he instinctively waited for orders or a reason to attack. Protecting the alpha was top priority.
What is it? Different. Can't be different. Must destroy. Must be same. Must protect. Must be ONE. Must KIll! Must DEstrOy whAt doesn't BELoNG...!

"So a wolf, a human, and a Risen Demon? That's an odd bunch," the figure commented as she stepped closer. The figure stopped briefly. "Wait a moment. You're that Ghost Buster that can use magic. We had a match at the old hospital."

Almost instantly, Ace materialized her staffs into their full forms, her stern expression turning much more hostile. "Alright, let's get one thing straight here: I'm no demon. Regardless of my current state, I am an angel, and don't you ever think otherwise."
The venom in Ace's tone was almost tangible, as was the dark aura that seemed to surround her.

Patrick blinked a few times, vague memories returning to him. "Oh... Oh yeah. That." He looked down at Evan, firmly shouting, "No! Must not fight!"
Evan relaxed slightly but stayed where he was in front of Patrick. At the first sign of hostility towards his master, this chick was toast.
With Evan under control, Patrick warily turned to Ace, properly intimidated by her aggressive stance and sharp tone. "Hey... I-It's alright. I'm sure she meant no offense."
