"ACE, NO!" Van hastily charged himself with a flight spell and took to the sky to chase after Ace.
Evan barked with surprise as he watched the mage fly off. He tried running after him, only the charge head-first into the wall, knocking him back and leaving him sprawled out in the grass in a dizzy heap.
As he flew after the fallen angel turning demon, Van desperately shouted, "Ace, stop! Vengeance will get us nowhere! You're acting on the dark impulses you've fought so hard to repress! You- You're behaving like a demon!"

Artemis looked to the feral boy. "So....... Shall we follow them big guy?" she asked. "I can't fly that well with my lack of wings...."

"What?"
Ace came to an abrupt halt, turning around, hovering in place and grabbing van by the neck. Her aura was sickeningly dark and her scowl was intimidatingly vicious.
"You... You didn't just... call me a demon. I seem to recall you telling me that wouldn't happen, Patrick! Or Van, or... whoever you are!! So what is it, huh?! Am I a demon or not?! Am I still me?!"
In an act of blind fury, she threw Van to the ground, lightning striking behind her.
"Convince me that I'm not a monster."

Evan sat back up just in time to watch Ace grab Van by the neck, and he immediately responded by roaring at the fallen angel and slamming himself into the wall repeatedly in a desperate attempt to escape and defend his master.
Van gagged from Ace's tight grip, too unnerved to respond to her rant. Once she had thrown him to the ground and he had shakily picked himself up, he found his voice and pleaded his case. "I didn't say that! I-I mean I never said you were a demon. Just that you were... behaving like one. I-I understand you're upset about your appearance, but that's no excuse to..."
It was pretty evident that Van was getting nowhere like this. He swallowed hard and murmured, "Patrick, maybe you should talk to her."
Pfft. Lightweights, Ray grumbled. I can calm her down.
"Ray, no," Van snapped in a hushed tone. "We are not casting any spells against her. She might take it the wrong way."
Yeah, man. Let me handle this, Patrick insisted. She just needs some reassurance.
Reassurance? She's gone off the deep end! And we're just gonna talk her back to reality?
Why not?

Ace growled at Van, steadily growing louder and louder the longer he stammered this nonsense at her. The black iris of her right eye seemed to expand, threatening to consume the white of her eye entirely. And then she overheard Van's comment to Ray.
"You... You'd even CONSIDER casting a spell on me?!" she screamed, everything around her shaking as she drove the gravitons crazy. "WHO DO YOU THINK I AM?!"
With a horrific caterwaul that could wake whatever dead hadn't already risen from the grave, Ace threw the sheer force of every graviton she could down on Van. She wouldn't have any implication that she was a demon! She would not be treated as such! SHE WAS BETTER THAN THOSE MONSTERS!

"GYAHHH-!!!" To say that Van was shocked, horrified and in a tremendous amount of pain would be the understatement of the week. He laid sprawled out in the hole in the ground Ace's meteoric strike had created, fairly certain that ninety percent of his body would stubbornly refuse to operate should he make the attempt. Which he wouldn't. Everything hurt too much.
Evan desperately continued his bid for freedom. The master was in trouble! He had to do something!
"Ace... Please... You're not a demon! You don't want to hurt anyone!" Van pleaded, grunting at the aches this simple act brought him. "Ngh... Patrick... If you would... GAH-!"
"Listen!" The mage's voice reflected Ray's gruff demeanor. "You're taking your frustration out on the wrong guy! So do us all a favor, pull your horned head out of your hamster hole and THINK LIKE A NORMAL F***ING PERSON! HCK-!"
"Ray, dude, not cool!" Patrick shouted, immediately getting to work on healing his broken body. "Ace, babe, listen to me! This isn't who you are! You've gotta calm down, okay?! Don't... Don't do this to yourself..."
Tears built up in his emerald eyes, partially from the pain of the healing process but mostly from emotional turmoil. "I'd never forgive myself if I lost you like that..."

"SHUT UP!" Ace hollered. "JUST SHUT UP! You don't...! I'm not...!"
She calmed down enough to listen as her boyfriend's personality took over the mage's body. He never insisted that Ace was a demon. Quite the opposite, it seemed. He only insisted that she not allow herself to become one.
But... she wasn't. She was still an angel, albeit a fallen one... Right...?
Ace shakily placed a hand on her head, startled to discover that in her rage, she had pushed her left horn out to its full, disturbingly enormous length. And although she couldn't see it for herself, both of her eyes were now equally pitch black.
"W-What...? But I... I-I can't be..."

"Ace..." Patrick murmured softly, slowly sitting up as his healing spell took effect. He stared sadly up at his beloved, who, no matter what, was still the girl he loved. "It's okay. It's the fog. It compels us to give in to the darkness in all of us. It's not your fault. Just please come down and... and everything will be alright. Okay?"
He held his arms out as if to offer a hug. "You still look like an angel to me. Don't let anyone or anything tell you otherwise."

Ace was taken aback. What wasn't her fault? She was just acting in self-defense. That Dio guy had attacked them and... Wait... He was gone. But Ace was upset. She had every right to be. That didn't mean...
Oh... Oh God... What was she doing?!
Did she just... assault her boyfriend?!
Everything was spinning. Her mind raced with a multitude of dreadful thoughts. She had lost control. She had acted on blind fury. She had even enjoyed it! It was one thing to lose her body, but she never actually thought she would lose her mind too. But it really was happening. Everything that made Ace who she was had come apart.
She felt it deep within.
It was just beneath the skin.
As much as she hated to admit it, as much as she wanted to believe otherwise, she had to face facts. She had to confess...
Monster...
"No... No..."
Her wings stopped flapping, allowing her to drop and land harshly in the grass, where she curled up in a ball of self-pity and cried.

"A-Ace...!" Patrick quickly climbed out of the hole and ran up to his fallen angel, falling on his knees and gently placing a hand on her back. He let her have this moment to let her emotions out in a nondestructive way. "Shh... S'okay..."
In the meantime, he raised his free hand and disbanded the wall of force. Once free to do so, Evan ran up to his master, stopping partway when Patrick silently commanded him to.

Ace flinched at Patrick's touch but otherwise kept still. She couldn't bear to look at him. Not like this. She couldn't believe she had slipped that low. She couldn't believe she had acted that way to the nicest guy she knew.
"Snnk... Patrick... I'm sorry... So... So sorry..."

"Hey... Hey, I'm alright," Patrick softly insisted, offering Ace a smile even though she couldn't see it. "You're alright. We're... We're all alright."
He gave her the time she needed to calm down, looking up first at Evan, who was sitting like an obedient dog awaiting orders, then at Artemis. "S-Sorry you had to get all mixed up in this."

"I've had a boring life up til tonight. And Ace, You're a beautiful person. I don't have to see that," the blind fallen offered with a smile as she dismissed her pendulum.
