Forsaken sighed as she turned the pages of another book. Did that actually happen? she thought going over the Fog's events in her mind. A notebook sat to the side full of sketches of a large dragon, Crona, Ragnarok, and Mysterion. They'd probably laugh at this. I'm no siren or anyone really that important. But it was fun adventuring with them, she offered as she started sketching the yokai they had faced.
The gears in her mind turned as she read in her book.

"Look, dude..." Kenny sighed, several books stacked in his arms, his parka hood down in atypical fashion. "I get why you have this sudden fascination with yourself. All I'm saying is if your scientist buddies couldn't figure out why you are the way you are, how do you know you're gonna find any information now?"
Paul scrawled the shelves of texts both old and new on various mythological creatures, pulling out any title that he felt could aid in his search and adding them to his own growing stack. "Well, the way I see it, if the guys back home can't find an explanation for my transformation, maybe there's someone out there who can. Maybe there are documents from other worlds where cases like mine are more commonplace."
"And what if there isn't? What if there's no scientific or magical explanation for this?"
"Honestly, I believe that magic is pretty much science that we don't understand yet. I know, I know that's beside the point, but whatever the case, I'd be satisfied if I could at least come up with a theory, if nothing else for the time being."
"Whatever you say, man. I'm gonna go sit down. This f***in' Grimoire book is killing my arms."
"You do that..." Paul murmured as his little buddy hobbled off elsewhere. After pulling one or two more books, he decided to settle on his current selection and start reading, making his way towards the nearest table.

Forsaken blinked. Mysterion? Paul? Here? she thought as she poked her head out of the session. "Paul?" She whispered.

Paul came to an abrupt halt and turned around at the sound of the voice. He stared dumbfounded at Forsaken for a brief moment, rigid as a startled cat. "...Oh!" He bit his tongue when he realized how loud that guttural noise was, lowering his voice to an appropriate volume as he continued, "F-Forsaken. Hi. I was just, uh..."
The book at the top of his stack slipped off, prompting Paul to hastily catch it with his tail. He then smiled awkwardly at Forsaken. "Wasn't expecting to... see you here. I'm... honestly kinda surprised you recognize me."

"You're still blue and your eyes still match that dragon that well added me to his hoard," she offered. She offered a smile to the pair. "I'm actually doing a bit of research myself. You're welcome to join me."

"Pfft. Yeah, I guess that is a bit of a giveaway," Paul laughed, though he quickly turned awkward upon being reminded of his actions. And the state he had been in.
He cleared his throat and motioned for Kenny to follow him, smiling again and plopping his stack of books down on the table. "Yeah, thanks..." He had just been about to sit down when he noticed Forsaken's sketches, grinning and raising an inquisitive eyebrow at them. "Is that... really what I looked like?"

Forsaken nodded. "Well... Not exactly... some details aren't right," she offered. "And welcome."

Paul chuckled and sat down at the table, Kenny claiming the chair next to him. As the latter silently delved into his own texts, Paul smiled at Forsaken and asked, "This wouldn't happen to have anything to do with the ink trails out west and the possible connection they have with your home world, would it?"

"Maybe a wee bit. And they're not from my home. I assure you my Earth didn't have ink rivers and oceans," she offered calmly as she scribbled a few notes and added lines to the drawing of Senuta.

"Ah..." Paul nodded and randomly selected one of his books, though he was only partially paying attention as he scrolled through the table of contents. "So this ink world you talked about... If it wasn't your world of origin, then what exactly was it?"

"It was my world in something called the Medium. Losai or Land of Sanguine and Ink. Where I became a mini-god.... and lost many family and friends..." she weakly offered.

"Oh..." Paul sunk slightly in his chair, unsure how to respond to Forsaken's answer. It seemed as if a lot had transpired in this universe, all of if quite somber. Even if he didn't have the whole picture, he could tell that it wasn't exactly a happy story.
"That's... Wow. ...Wish I knew what to say to that. Doesn't exactly feel right to say I'm sorry, but... for what it's worth, it sounds pretty heavy."
His half-focused gaze on his book finally landed on the word "dragon," prompting him to find the page where said chapter began.

"Thank you. And it was. Everything started as just a fun game- no one dying... Then meteors and I end up in a weird world with clockwork griffins that were willing to help me," she offered.

"Really..." Though his yellow eyes constantly flicked back and forth between Forsaken and his book, Paul's voice held no shortage of fascination. "So this game sent you to an ink world inhabited by griffins. Under less hectic circumstances, I'd say that actually sounds kind of cool." He chuckled a little, simply hoping to diffuse some tension. "And what about your friends? If the ink world was solely yours, then I'm guessing they had their own worlds in this Medium?"

She nodded. "The Eight worlds of the Gods, as the griffins would call them," she offered. "The Bearer of Blood would be the only female among the pantheon. And being that I am the Blood mini-god.... that fact rings true..."
