Lagola blinked at Sanuta in uncertainty. "Tea?"
"Hot leaf fluid," Kendall softly translated before taking a seat on one of the floor cushions.
"Ah! That sounds great, actually! Thank you!" Lagola sat down next to Kendall, smiling giddily at him before turning back to Sanuta. "This is a... really nice hive you have here."

Sanuta could clearly be seen and heard giggling from the open kitchen one room over. "Leaf juice? Hive? Quite the fascinating terminology you have, Lagola!"
He quickly filled the kettle with water and placed it on the gas stove, the sclera of his eyes briefly turning black as he summoned fire to light it. Once that was done, his eyes turned white again and he meekly continued, "Forgive me, but I do hope you're fond of salad. I must admit to being a strict vegetarian. Only eat what I grow myself."

"Oh, um... Y-Yeah, I guess..." Lagola churned awkwardly in her seat, not really sure how to respond to having her terminology questioned, albeit in a politely teasing way. She could somewhat understand Sanuta's remark. In all fairness, to her, a lot of human names for things were weird, but... to each his own?
She quickly giggled when Sanuta apologetically stated what their lunch would be. "Actually, I'm the same way! W-When I had my own garden, I would only eat my crops too!"

"Oh...! Haha!" Well, that was certainly a relief on Sanuta's part. Not to mention an oddly fascinating similarity. This little troll girl really was something! "That's good to know! Hopefully you'll enjoy my harvest just as much as yours."
With that said, Sanuta gathered up all the ingredients he needed and got to work cutting them up and mixing them in a large bowl.

"Oh, yes, I'm sure I will!" Lagola responded before turning to look up at Kendall again. The duo's silent exchange was one of pure joy, as though Lagola was thanking Kendall for bringing her here and Kendall was delighted that Lagola was having fun.
"So Sanuta!" Kendall spoke up. "I know we haven't spoken much since Evan and his companions visited. I never did get the chance to ask you how that turned out."

"Ah, yes..." As he chopped up the lettuce, Sanuta explained, "It was certainly an interesting meeting. Evan seems like a fine young man, and his companions are an odd yet amicable bunch. To be honest, I'm not entirely certain I caught all of their names!" An awkward laugh, then he continued, "I certainly enjoyed their company, don't get me wrong."
His smile fell. "Although... they seemed quite... bewildered by my story on Kitomo and the Skaian gods. Evan especially. Fainted right into the frog sanctuary!" He dumped the lettuce into the bowl and started chopping carrots. "Once I finished telling them the tale, they all departed for Mt. Bonsai... and... shortly thereafter, the top of the mountain was leveled by an explosion!"

Lagola's eyes widened at that last bit of information, her panicked gaze jumping between Kendall and Sanuta.
Kendall inhaled sharply through his teeth. "Yes... I... I'm terribly sorry for not getting back to you earlier. You must've been so worried. Evan and the others encountered a... very powerful adversary while exploring the mountain, and the battle against him took a rather grim turn. They're all okay, they made it out... but this foe is still out there somewhere. And if you'd be so kind as to keep this a secret... this foe's intentions, origins and whereabouts exceed even my knowledge or foresight. We're all working our hardest to ensure he causes no further destruction to our home or harm to its people."
With a solemn nod, he added, "Nonetheless, I'm glad that your meeting with the team went well. The knowledge you provided them with was exactly what they needed for their mission to discover the island's history. And now, not only that, but they will know to come back to you should they need further information, not to mention nutritional or medicinal supplements."

"I... I see..." Hearing about this new foe left Sanuta rather distraught, though he did his best to remain optimistic. "Well... it's good to know that everyone is safe. And that I was able to help them."
After adding carrots, celery, onions and grape tomatoes to the mix, he started cutting up bell peppers, all the while saying, "Although... if you don't mind me asking... you say that they were trying to learn about the island's history. Is there any particular reason why they were researching such events?"

"Hmm..." How best to explain this... After pondering for a moment, Kendall grinned a little and replied, "Well... perhaps the full story will be best explained once you've sat down. Let's just say that... those fighters, though they were unaware of it at the time, are on a mission to orchestrate the return of the gods in the legend."

Sanuta looked up at Kendall with wide, astounded eyes, double-taking so hard that it was a miracle he didn't get whiplash. "What-? Y-You're serious?! O-Oh goodness..." He only dropped the subject because the kettle had started whistling, prompting Sanuta to extinguish the flame on the stove and pour the hot water into three fancy clay teacups. He then placed the teabags in the cups and delivered them to Kendall and Lagola. "H-Here's that tea..."
As he returned to the kitchen to finish mixing the salad, he continued, "B-But... Really, they're going to pave the way for the Skaian gods' return?? That's... That's incredible! Wonderful!" Sanuta was practically bouncing as he reentered the living room with the finished salad, individual bowls, homemade vinaigrette dressing and his own cup of tea. "I-Is that why some of them were wearing the symbols of Kyozoku and Chima? You say that they were unaware of their true mission at the time... and they claimed that they did not initially understand the emblems' significance..."

"Ah, thank you..." Lagola graciously accepted her tea, giving it a moment to cool off and let the flavor grow stronger. If only slightly. It smelled delicious, and the salad looked equally so. It almost made her forget the heavy topic at hand.
Kendall smiled awkwardly, struggling somewhat to remain vague yet honest with Sanuta. "I suppose you could say that fate had a hand in their initial arrival and the steps they initially took towards their ultimate goal. But yes... they had been investigating Skaia, hoping to learn why it had been frozen in time. They did not yet know that it and the island are related. Now that they know... their challenge now is to bring Skaia back to life and help the eight heroes finish what they started... while keeping the island and its inhabitants out of harm's way."

"Fascinating..." There were practically stars in Sanuta's big blue eyes as he listened to Kendall's explanation, dishing out salad in the meantime. "So... the Great Restart is upon us. And to think... I actually have a hand in it! This is so exciting!!"
He did his best to settle down as he took a seat on the other side of the table. "Heheh... Sorry, didn't mean to lose my composure in front of you. It's just... I'm happy for them! This is a grand task they've inherited, and I wish nothing but the best for them. And for Dimensional Island in these... undoubtedly troubling days to come."

"Indeed," Kendall agreed, tipping his teacup to Sanuta while Lagola started into her salad.
"Mmmmmm..." Needless to say, the medley of vegetables was absolutely delectable to her taste nodes. "This is so gooood..."

"Aww, well thank you!" Sanuta beamed at Lagola before taking a few bites of his salad and washing it down with tea. Eventually he asked, "So you'll be partaking in this mission too? How did you get involved?"

"Oh... well..." Lagola shyly sipped her tea, then elaborated, "Kendall found me after... n-nine other trolls and I... escaped the destruction of our home world and... w-went on a sort of cosmic adventure. D-During that time, I had acquired... time powers."
She poked at her salad with her fork. "I, uh... I also lost my... my custodian. My caretaker. A-And most of the other trolls... they were very abrasive and... n-not particularly fond of me. B-But then Kendall contacted me and..."
"Well... I figured that we could help each other," Kendall finished, patting Lagola on the back. "And she had been an absolutely great teammate."
A brown blush filled Lagola's cheeks.
