Flight of the Aflutterflies (OPEN)

.... "So... If I'm putting all the pieces together right, what you're telling me is that your fairies with Happiness complexes, and apparently, if Yang is any indication, they can turn other people into Aflutterflies just by touching them." The expression on his face settled.

It was DEFINITELY one of EXTREME annoyance.

The young man let out a breath massaging his temples. "Honestly, I've only been gone for a week... A WEEK. Could this island REFRAIN from causing hell during the shortest amount of time-? I mean, really, is that so much to ask?" Yes. It really is man. Grumbling under his breath, he looked to Yang and the others, a bit of uncertainty and optimism in his face. Maybe they could be reasoned with. "Look... What if I told you, I don't WANT to be transformed and that I would be perfectly happy just the way I am?" He then looked to Yang. "And then, what if I told you that, while I'm happy to see you again, I'm sad that I'm seeing you like THIS. You haven't needed magical roofies to be happy Yang, so seeing you like this... Frankly it kind of scares me."

As he did this, he put his hands behind his back... And his hands vanished into void portals...

"AWW, WE'RE NOT HERE TO CHANGE YA, PAL!" Rio happily insisted, holding his arms low in front and curling his legs behind him in a cutesy pose. "WE'RE JUST HERE TO MAKE YOUR LIFE A LITTLE MORE EXTRA SPECIAL AWESOME!!! NOTHING WRONG WITH HAVING A LITTLE MORE PEP IN YOUR STEP, AMIRITE?!"

"YEAH, MAN! PLUS... SHENANIGANS!!! WHO CAN SAY NO TO SHENANIGANS?!" Sam cheered, flying high above Alex's head as if leaping for joy. "SPEAKING OF WHICH, I'MA GO GET MY SHENAN ON! AGAIN!!!"

"YOU DO THAT, FUZZY BUDDY!" Rio called, waving goodbye as Sam flew towards the Plaza.

"CAUSE WHAT?!" Mickey laughed at Alex's irritated expression. "BOY, YOU GOTTA STOP IT WITH THESE SILLY FAKE WORDS! YOU'RE A RIOT! HAHA!"

He continued to orbit Alex's head, stopping every once in a while to poke his barrier. "YOU GOTS TO CALM DOWN, BUDDY! AIN'T NOTHING TO FEAR! NO NEED TO BE SAD! WE'RE HERE TO MAKE EVERYTHING BETTER! WE'RE HERE TO HAVE FUN! Y'KNOW, LIKE GIRLS DO! AND I LIKE G- OOH, WHAT'S IN HERE?!!!" When Mickey noticed the void portals behind Alex's back, the curious raccoon aflutterfly leaned in for a closer look.

"CHAOS IS FUN THOUGH AS ARE SHENANIGANS!!" YAng offered as she kept bouncing off the barrier.

.......... Alex was almost grinning that he'd been noticed in his act by Mickey...

He now had one hell of an opportunity...

"Oh? What am I doing you ask?" that likely caught the other Aflutterflies attention as he brought his hands reaching into void portals up front to catch their high as kite attention spans. "Well allow me to answer that question with another question."

The two void portals were now right next to each other.

"Wanna see somethin' cool~? Don't blink~."

The Aflutterflies were so focused on Alex's portals they never noticed Yang suddenly sieze up completely.

What am I looking for??

Any amount of energy that doesn't match up with Yang's physiology! Foreign contaminants and agents that wouldn't look like they belong.

Oh yeah that's super help-

Wait a minute... This little surge of energy here. He was almost grateful for the matter gloves or he would've been turned just finding it. It felt happy, cheerful, almost manically so. This was definitely it.

The second the energy felt Alex's hand, it tried to worm it's way up his arm, trying to inject him... But no. He wasn't about to allow THAT.

HRRRAAAAAAG!!!

Back outside , the Aflutterflies were taken aback when Alex's shielded hands suddenly reappeared from void portals directly BEHIND YANG, Forcibly shoving out what looked like a spirit of sheer joy, it looked almost as if-

THAT WAS ABOUT WHEN ANOTHER VOID BUBBLE APPEARED AROUND YANG-FLY, bouncing them all back.

As Alex stood and waited to see the result, he briefly noticed the spirit trying to get back to Yang before giving up at the barrier and flying off... Slightly concerning but he could worry about it later.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Aflutterflies and afluttermoths? I give you 'How to steal Curses by your resident Thief of Void."

Upon being knocked back, Rio spun haphazardly through the air before slowing to a halt, laughing at the dizzying experience. He then looked down and smiled at the results of Alex's thievery.

"OOOOOOOOOOH! WELL, AIN'T THAT NIFTY!" Rio mused, not even the least bit fazed by Yang's return to her normal self. "AND YOU GOT A NEW GHOSTY FRIEND TOO! NEAT! LOOKS LIKE THEY'RE FOLLOWING SAM! WANNA GO CHECK OUT WHAT'S GOING DOWN, MICKEY?!"

Mickey plucked himself out of the dirt, having taken a faceful of it in the ensuing burst of void. Undaunted, he lifted himself back up into the air and replied, "SHOOT, BUDDY, WE'RE JUST ALL OVER THE PLACE, AREN'T WE?! THIS IS EXCITING!"

As he fluttered towards the city, he hollered over his shoulder, "COMING, YANG?! SHOW'S NOT OVER!"

When the void bubble dissipated, a full sized human Yang landed on her back side. "Ow...." she uttered before blinking. "Headache...."

She looked towards the Mickey Aflutterfly. "I think it is for me little dude," she offered as she rubbed her temples.

"YANG!" The shout was likely unwelcome considering the headache, but the voice, Alex hoped, would've been welcome. The thief had rushed over and merged the two bubbles of void energy together so he could kneel down on the ground with Yang. Thoughts came to him about trying to help those three... But honestly, all he managed to do with Yang was FORCE OUT what had turned her into an Aflutterfly to begin with. All he would succeed in doing was giving these things non-corporeal forms... It was a terrible thought, but for now, he had Yang, and that was all he needed...

Hmm, these things would likely never go away if they seemed unhappy... Maybe.

Alex gave Yang a kiss on the cheek to catch her attention... Then gave her another kiss full on.

Leaving her dazed a second, he turned to the remaining Aflutterflies.

"Hey uh... Don't... Worry about us, I think we'll be fine as is. You've done your job! I'm very happy to have my Bombshell gal back~." He nuzzles her to prove his point. "So uh... You... You can go now, and do whatever you want elsewhere you... You ole, so and so." He followed it up with 'Shoo' motions to further emphasize his statement.

"AWWWWWWWWW, WELL HOW CAN I SAY NO TO THAT FACE?!" Rio cooed, slowly floating by upside-down and watching the adorable display. "STAY BEAUTIFUL, YOU TWO! FEEL FREE TO CATCH UP WITH US LATERRRRRR!"

With that said, Rio clicked his heels and darted after Mickey, racing towards the Plaza to join the other aflutterflies. "TWENTY-THREE SKIDOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

"I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THAT MEEEEAAAANS!!!" Mickey cheered, blowing a kiss at the duo before he and Rio disappeared amongst the buildings.

The hyperactive fairies had barely been gone for a minute before Cat approached Alex and Yang, hardly even acknowledging them at first. Once again, she was hastily but dizzily waddling by in a desperate attempt to catch up to the aflutterflies, finally dropping Goldenhand and collapsing next to the duo in an exhausted heap. After gasping and croaking for a good ten seconds, the fox-bull-frog chimera looked up at them and half-heartedly waved a webbed paw.

Yang winced with the yelling but seemed to relax slightly when Alex kissed her. "What in a Beowolf's Den just happened?" she asked after waving the Aflutterflies off.

The blonde was slowly moving as she went to her backpack to fish out her sunglasses. "Soft voice please..."

Down in the Plaza, the chaos was already in progress.

The aflutterflies had taken the streets as calm as a coming storm, dancing around the fascinated citizens and occasionally landing on a few hands or cheeks. Then the kisses were exchanged and the spell was transferred. Just like that, these cute, colorful butterflies had multiplied into a swarm of hyperactive, overjoyed fairies fluttering about and spreading the accursed love like the most annoying and/or adorable disease ever conceived.

The fairies flooded the Plaza, giggling, hooping and hollering as they flew about without a care. Those unaffected retreated into the stores, boarding them off in the hopes of keeping the psychedelic demons out. Their panic did nothing to deter the joy the aflutterflies shared with each other as they partied in the streets.

"HAHAHAAAAAA!!!" Rio swerved around several of the new recruits and onto an awning, which he proceeded to bounce on. "I FEEL THE LOVE UP IN HERE! ARE YOU FEELING IT, SAM?! ARE YOU FEELING IT?!!!"

"I'M FEELING IT, RIO!" Sam cheered, flying a loop-de-loop around the mage before swooping down and pressing himself against a window. From there, the lion waved to the terrified people trapped inside. "HIIIIII!!! C'MON, JOIN THE FUN, WHY DON'TCHA?!"

"Sure, it's deserving of all the criticism it gets, but if everyone would stop talking about it, I probably wouldn't complain about it so much. You know what I mean?"

"Um... I suppose? Honestly, I haven't exactly been keeping up with your train of thought. We are still talking about SpongeBob, yes?"

"Well, not the entire show! Just One Course Meal..." Swift sighed as she, Andromeda and Aether exited one of the Plaza's stores, shopping bags slung over the arms of the former two girls. "Of course, I could probably say that about the entirety of season seven, particularly with Stuck in the Wr-"

All of a sudden, Swift froze, eyes wide, ears erect, nose to the wind.

Andromeda and Aether slowed to a halt and looked her over with concern, the latter speaking up, "Swift? What's wrong?"

"Oh God..." That scent... Swift new that horrible scent anywhere. Sweat, oak, wheat grass, and a sickening overabundance of sugarcane. "Oh no no no... HOW?! HOW ARE THEY HERE?!"

"Who??"

Before she could give her alien companions an answer, Swift dropped her bags, shoved the duo right back into the store and slammed the door behind them. So much for a girls' day out.

Sure enough, not five minutes later, the streets were filled with the obnoxious results of that obnoxious fairy's obnoxious pets' obnoxious curse!

"WHOOOOOOOO BABYYYYYYYY!!! AIN'T NO PARTY LIKE AFLUTTERFLY PARTY 'CAUSE AFLUTTERFLY PARTY DON'T STOP!!!" Mickey flew in a high arc over the sparkly rainbow cloud of butterflies, then dive-bombed into a puddle of Coca-Cola that had been dropped in the commotion. After lapping it up and laughing like a child, Mickey spontaneously shouted to the crowd above, "MMM! COLA! HEHEH... COLA... HEY!!! ANYBODY GOT A RICOLA?!"

"RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICOLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"

"I LOVE THIS CITY!!!"

"Woo! Some time to just enjoy the city was a great idea! There's all sorts of cool stuff to see, people to meet, did you see those stumpy humanoids as we exited the mall? I think one of them was wearing an aviator's uniform!"

Nora was absolutely beside herself with joy, smiling and laughing as she let her arms twirl about. Right behind her was her current boss, Nora herself decked out in a new, honestly pretty modern outfit curtesy of the costume shop. Not too far from her was a yellow skinned fellow making his way out of a taco shop, petting his gigantic, iron ball of a pet as it gave a few loud barks. "Oooh, and what is that thing~?!" Nora asked, smiling wide as she approached the chain chomp.

Ed smiled. "Hullo!" he cheered. "This here's my pet, Chompy. Say hi, Chompy!"

"GROOOW!!!"
