Leo saw the young man's confused expression, seeming confused himself. "What..? Did you expect a tornado or something?" He shrugged a little. "I checked the weather forecast on the TV thing over there." He pointed to the TV resting on the entertainment center against the wall. "Took me a bit to figure out how to work the darn thing... But when I found the weather channel it said we can expect just a small thunderstorm. Not at all anything to worry about."
He also noticed his all around hesitance as well. "Well... If it isn't the rain, what were you so afraid of?"

Makoto would have had trouble coming up with a response even if he was a social butterfly and a master of eloquent words. He was quite obviously neither of these so he just stared out the window a few more moments before turning to Leo, staring a few seconds, and then turning to the television. The person on the screen was dressed nothing like the broadcasts he'd see back where he came from. The mere lack of warnings scrolling across the top of the screen was odd. Several minutes had passed when he looked towards Leo.
"W-where?"
This wasn't Enid. The world around him was too bright. There was no fear of storms, no post-apocalyptic chaos. He'd yet to see a Psycho-Slave. People seemed... happy. Not afraid... why? It all came out through his eyes as he stared blankly at Leo. It was clear the Dreamland denizen would have to pick his words carefully. Makoto looked ready to panic again.

Leo looked a bit confused. "What's wrong?" The panicking face was one that brought it all into perspective. "You thought there was going to be something bad, didn't you?" He looked to the window...
The question had been bothering him since the moment he met Makoto; he had obviously come from a world different then this one. What was it like? He was able to safely make a few assumptions; it wasn't the best place to live, people lived in fear of the Global Alliance... Was it safe to add fear of the weather in that list too?
He wasn't from this world... And compared to their, this place must've been quite the stretch. Heck, Leo was willing to guess it was challenging his very way of thinking.
And if he were in Makoto's shoes, then-...
Oh no...
"Okay, calm down. Let's just stay calm, and take deep breaths okay? There's no need to panic..."

Makoto followed Leo's example and tried to breath. It... seemed to help. Not much, but some. He sat down on the bed and looked in his lap. Leo wanted an explanation, but there wasn't much he was really able to tell him. He'd blocked most of his world out, and while he could access it, it hurt.
As much as the thoughts of Makoto's world were challenging Leo's way of thinking, the thoughts of "Not Enid" were challenging Makoto's. He shook his head briefly before looking up towards the orange Leo had managed to finish during the "conversation".
He seemed pretty intent on it, and it was probably the only thing preventing an even more awkward silence than already existed.

Leo handed him the orange noticing the look. "Just keep calm okay? there's no reason to panic." He repeated for Makoto's sake. Leo was being truthful, but truth be told, if Makoto freaked out, he somewhat feared being on the wrong end of his psychic powers. He had went through that once already, and wasn't too keen to go through it again.
"So... Will you be okay?"

Makoto nodded and quickly took the orange, almost as if he expected Leo to yank his hand back. His response wasn't very convincing, but he now seemed rather preoccupied with the food. At least he'd gotten the idea that attempting to pull a "Kirby" resulted in choking for normal people.
Although he was still eating rather quickly... it was a bit of a wonder he wasn't choking anyways. And he also had not bothered to peel the pieces off. He was eating it similar to an apple, seemingly unbothered by the juicy mess he was making.

Leo left Makoto to his orange and back over to his bed. Why? To think over what all he had learned.
'Man... And I thought I had it rough...' He sighed a little, 'It's no wonder he's always so afraid; thinking the entire world's out to get you would do the same thing to me... I guess... No that's exactly how I'd react. Tac acted the same way when me and the others met him. He thought we were going to treat him like a thief and not a poor individual.' He snuck a look over at Makoto, whom continued to enjoy his orange. 'I need to think of something... This kid needs to know I'm on his side. He probably thinks that already, but there's always that chance something will go wrong.'
The novel he had picked up found itself back on the bed, not even opened. "Makoto..."
He possibly had the young man's attention, "I want to know some things." He looked over at the boy himself. "Could you possibly tell me a few things about your world? You don't have to go indepth, and you don't have to tell me anything, if you don't want to." He swung his feet over the edge of the bed, and gave him a curious look. "Is it okay, if I ask?"

Makoto looked up, wincing a bit but nodding all the same. It was followed by a long pause, as he wasn't quite sure what to say. He didn't feel he knew his world very well, and there was kind of a lot to say even then. Where should he start?
"Um... it-it's covered in storms, I guess... small ones are known... known for destroying entire cities if they aren't protected..."
Was that a good place? He stopped and waited for further reaction from Leo. It was a little mindboggling, thinking of "other worlds"...
And the fact that a "small" storm had just been shown to have the destructive power of a small hurricane... was a little disturbing.

Leo thought about this a moment; what Makoto said had made sense, given the fear he had shown of bad weather of any kind.
"I see..." He thought a moment more before... "Is there anything else you can tell me? Remember you can tell me only as much as you want."

Makoto looked at his lap and shook his head. There was lots more and he was sure Leo was curious about the Global Alliance. But he didn't want to talk about that. He hadn't even wanted to talk about the storms. What would happen when he went back? Would he go back? Was there a chance he was really free of that world...?
"I... I guess... there's...." he didn't want to talk more, but he didn't want to push Leo away. He said he didn't have to talk, but did he mean it...?

But Leo understood the silence perfectly. "Hey, don't worry, I understand. A lot of bad memories, who am I to question?" He turned back to his novel before a thought struck him.
"Just one question though, if you don't mind." He thought of a good way to word this, seeing as how he didn't want to push the envelope. "Why are you scared to take a bath at the very least? I mean, that sounds a bit silly don't you think?"

Makoto looked up, "L-liquid..." he gestured over the top of his head, taking several moments longer than would be considered normal. It was clear he was trying to find words, "I don't like... being submerged... or getting my head wet..."
It wasn't really the greatest explanation. But Makoto had chosen to focus on the light coming from a lamp afterwards. The situation had gotten more uncomfortable, but he was actually considering saying why. If Leo was with the Global Alliance, which he only now believed in possibility rather than actuality, he would know the issue. If not, wouldn't it be better to tell him? Would admitting to his past cause it to return?
He turned back towards Leo and tried to speak, but it came out extremely muted.
"...psycho slaves..."

Leo's pretty good hearing seemed to have failed him at that crucial reveal of fact. He had heard of Makoto's fear of liquid in general, but what he said a little after he had missed.
"Pardon? I didn't quite catch that... I think I heard Psy-something something, but I missed the rest..."

Makoto looked up and shook his head. It was an attempt at saying "nevermind" he had seen people do, but it came across more truly than he intended. It had taken effort to say it the first time, "I-I'm sorry..." he said, fearing retribution for being unwilling to defend himself.
It wasn't a thing targetted at Leo. It was just Makoto's general scarring. It was the same reason that if the two were conversing in Japanese, Makoto would be sounding unnatural due to using nothing but the most polite forms in modern existance. It was all to avoid getting in trouble, despite feeling the attempts were futile.

Leo looked at Makoto, looking very much unreassured, but he wasn't about to push. He doubted the boy's nerves could take it. "Well... ... Okay... If you say so." He put the novel down on the bed, though it was obvious he never even progressed since his talk with Makoto. "I just wanted to help you, but if you don't feel like talking that's okay."
He then turned his back to Makoto, laying on his side. He hadn't meant to seem rude, more like just trying to get comfortable. "But it must be killing you; trust me, I have a friend that used to keep secrets all the time, just like you, ya know, and he was suffering emotionally because of some of them." He shrugged, "The point I'm trying to convey is that sometimes letting that stuff out is the only way you'll ever feel better, but you don't have to talk until your ready to." He moved a little bit on the matress. "You can do what you want; watch cartoons if you want; just try and keep it down. I need a nap..."
