K2 nodded, hoping the smile was meant as friendship. He didn't think he could take it if this girl actually liked him. He turned away. The fact that the thought had occured to him meant she probably didn't. He'd read that in a webcomic somewhere.
"Um.. I don't really know where any are, though..."
And its kind of late. But if I say that she'll insist we go back to her room...

Midori grinned. "Well, luckily for you, I spent this whole week learning my way around Void City! I can show you around."
As it was, she was fairly tired herself, but she knew that Kaini would object if she suggested they go back up to her hotel room.

K2 smiled a bit. It wasn't much, but it was something. He pulled out his COMP and looked at for a moment, holding up his finger and selecting a command. There were a bunch of tutorial messages, but he was doing this like he did most things. Jumping in with both feet. He just hoped Komaki wouldn't freak.
The Angel materialized for a moment, pausing as she looked over towards Midori before returning her focus to Kaini, "You summoned me, Son of Man?"
K2 sighed, "Could you call me K2 or something? I was wondering if you could maybe look for someplace safe for us to stay... I mean, if it's okay."
The Angel seemed to actually be thinking about the order, but nodded, "In so far that you do not require me to stray far from you, I can do that," she flapped her wings and took off into the air. K2 looked towards Midori, "I honestly didn't expect her to say yes... We can go."
He was still smiling.

Midori appeared to have zoned out the whole time during this conversation. When K2 finally adressed her again, it took Midori a couple seconds to jump back in.
"Oh. Right!" Midori said. She grinned. "Well then, lead the way, Kaini-kun!"
This was actually the happiest she'd been in a while.

Kaini sweatdropped, "Um... Didn't I just say I have no idea where we're going?" he rubbed the back of his head, "So... maybe you should lead...?"
The Angel was doing as she had been told, but she was keeping a high enough vantage point on the teens to know where they were as well. If he were attacked, she wanted to be nearby. Fact was, he was horribly inexperienced. And the Island was not directly under God's trial, something she couldn't let any of the involved parties realize. That included Cain and Abel...

"Oh. Right!" Midori said, and led the way. She really hadn't been paying attention at all.
"The cafe down the street from here's great! They've got some really good coffee!" Midori explained. "Oh, um, but if you don't like coffee, they've got milk 'n' stuff."

Kaini shook his head, "I'm from... well, spent most of my life in Los Angeles. I get Starbucks all the time."
Los Angeles. A veritable hotbed for conventions and the like. Heck, it was one of the most commonly hit locations for that sort of thing in America. But it meant something a little deeper. Midori had set him at enough ease that he had begun to talk about himself. She now knew something no one else on the island did.

"Ooh! You lived in LA? I heard that's where all of the american cons get held!" Midori said. She was practically grinning. "I always wanted to see what they were like, so I was saving up to visit one. I heard their cosplay skills suck though. They don't even look like the characters!"
Well, neither did Midori. If anyone had watched the anime she'd gotten her source costume from (which they probably hadn't), they would have realized that she didn't look much like who she was cosplaying.
((OOC: It's still a fictional anime. XD))

"Yeah, my mom got a job there. She says that's why she left Japan. I was too young to rembmer. As for the conventions... I tend to hide in my house when those are going on... The science fiction and anime ones get rather crazy. At least the gaming ones aren't... I mean...."
He had been about to say 'flooded with cosplayers', but had realized perhaps a little to late that it might be insulting. To, you know, the cosplayer? It wasn't like they lacked cosplayers, but there weren't nearly as many. He did have to agree about the costume skill though. If he saw one more Sailor Moon that looked like someone had hacked up a school unform and stuck a mop on their head... or possibly worse, the taped on "Vulcan" ears...

Midori let out a gasp. "You don't go to them?! B-But, you don't have travel far at all to get to them! I had to ride all the way out from Akita Prefecture to get to the one I was in when the Lockdwon! You're already in the city! You can get to one whenever you want!"
She huffed, and turned away before deciding to change the topic. "Hey, does America have any toku cons? Or is toku not as popular there as it is back home?"

Kaini sweatdropped as Midori all but had an anurism over the fact that he didn't go to conventions. He let her give her piece, it didn't seem like she was stopping any time soon. When she finished she went into a huff, and Kaini felt like facepalming. He wasn't... good with women. Especially ones this forward. However, he did have a simple reply to her inquiry.
"Whatsit cons?"
For while he spoke fluent Japanese with only a few pronunciation errors here and there, he was not, in fact, Japanese. At least not in terms other than race. And he was not involved in most fandoms. Really, he was more into games than anything aired on the television. So he had no idea what Midori was talking about. His expression had changed to a blank stare by now.

Midori frowned. "Toku! Tokusatsu! You know, like Super Sentai and Kamen Rider! Or Gojira!" She started waving her hands frantically, like she couldn't believe that someone didn't know what toku shows were.

"Su.. oh. Um, right. I'm... not really into that kind of stuff."
The Japanese looking teenage boy had just admitted to not being into giant transforming robots and hero teams. Hoo boy, that was destined to go over well. He realized that it may have been a bad idea to admit that and pointed to a few shops that they had gotten to while walking.
"The coffee shop is over there, right?"
It didn't look like any of the stores were open. Well, it was almost midnight... and certain people had God favored souls that made it a dangerous time to be out... especially considering the light rain fall...

Midori nodded. "Uh-huh, it's--"
And then the Dark Hour hit. Midori stopped midsentence as her body was surrounded by a dark crystaline coffin-like structure, the water on the ground became blood, and the sky turned green. The water coming from the sky changed into blood mid fall, and continued falling, likely all over K2.

How many emotions can one have in less than a second? For all its fragility, the human mind can go through a lot of things at once. Not necesarilly perceive on a conscious level, but they are all there. And the human perception of time means things have to come first and second, call it a drawback of the time it takes to process things.
As such, the first thing Kaini processed was the blackish purple structure of crystal that suddenly flashed over where Midori had been. Not it's shape, there were far more distracting things than that. The fact that her voice had been cut off. She wasn't trapped inside anything. Though that was completely insignificant the way a single ant is to the entire multiverse as the rain changed color.
It was a fine rain, more of a mist than real rainfall. And while it could be said K2's brain had broken many times today, it completely shattered here. Disintegrated, even. Slowly, agonizingly slowly in his perception of time but not much slower than normal movement, he looked down at the now blood that was running down his hands. He turned white as a bedsheet. It would be likely you could hold up a freshly clean one to his face and wonder if he was even human for the color that drained from his face. And he just stood there. Looking at his hands, his eyes completely soul-less. He looked like his brain had snapped. More like he was an extremely life-like doll, just without the life-like eyes. He wasn't even blinking.
It was to the point that he wasn't connected to the world to even know he was moving. He wasn't moving himself. But his perceptions were so broken that he may have well fainted. The next thing he connected to was someone shaking his shoulder. He looked up, and saw the critical yet concerned face of the angel from his COMP looking at him. She had blood dripping from her hair and wings. Her stark white dress looked like a horrendously morbid attempt at tie die. One that had failed, really.
His eyes widened and he looked past her. The blood continued to fall from the sky. He opened his mouth, but mere stutters came out. He realized he wasn't being rained on, and saw that they were under an umbrella. They had made it to the cafe...? Actually, yes. They had only been a few feet away. He looked down at his shirt. It looked in much a similar fashion to the Angel's dress.
"This world has darkness of its own."
"D-d-d-did God...?"
"If this is meant as an omen, I was not informed. But as all trials, you must overcome it. I do not perceive this as lasting long. That tower rose with the blood that came from the sky, and it feels as if it is made of sin."
Kaini wrapped his arms around himself. He was still mostly broken. The Angel turned to him and remained quiet. She was horrified herself, but the Child had to be desensitized to what his path might mean somehow. She would have liked to do it differently, but it worked. However, she could sense his emotions fluctuating. It did not seem he would remember much of this...
As it was, when Midori woke up she would notice Kaini had vanished. He was just a few feet from where she was standing, but the terror in his eyes in a time she had not perceived would be confusing. Kaini was shivering with the broken state of mind he was in. And it wasn't just from the Hour. There were tears going down his face, but he was unaware. The angel had mentioned that tower... what was it?
