If Mandark had been paying attention to his Computer, however, he would have known when the security camera to the chemical room was cut off. Turns out that shutting of alerts from his Computer was going to lead to some intense headdesking later in the day. It wasn't something like rewiring Momoko had pulled, either. She'd simply yanked the wires from the cameras in the room, somehow picking out even the most hidden ones.
She took a few more minutes to find where everything she needed was. With the prying eyes out of the way, she had the time to do both things she planned. Susan kept his lab well stocked it seemed. She began once everything was in order, thankful for the teen's organizational system.

Mr. Copycat looked grateful. "Thank you very much!" He limped off to find the table. It didn't really take long to find it, and after clearing some bits of metal and bolts and the such off of the table, Mr. Copycat lay his son down on it to rest, before grabbing the gear shift and using it to support himself. Hopefully, Momoko could get things to work.

Dexter leaned back at Mandark's deadly pointing finger, though the threat went in one ear and out the other. It was so hard to take him seriously at this moment. Still, precautions were necessary; his fingers twitched, waiting for a chance to grab his concealed blaster when needed.
He turned to Mr. Copycat, looked over his son, and asked, "...might I ask what's happened? Or is it too personal to share?"

"Tsk. I can hear Computer laughing at me, now. Probably the ONLY reason I haven't turned it back on." Mandark grumbled to himself. To recap: His lab had just been invaded. Again. It was needed for some... external use that he wasn't entirely aware of. Again. And he'd been locked out of part of it while the person worked...
...again. Only, he had a guest this evening.
"This is an island. An island covered in 'Dark Insects', fuzzy things that disorient you when they explode, and sentient computer viruses. I am rather curious as to how one could be so... badly injured, in such a SAFE place."

Uno had wandered over to where Cody and Mr. Copycat were. She pulled up a chair and sat next to the desk. She tilted her head sideways, "Hey, what's wrong with his hands? Is he a program too?"
She wasn't trying to be rude towards Cody or his father. One has to remember she's still newly born and also not human herself. Her hands were properly formed. So she asked out of naive curiosity. Didn't mean others would take it well, but it was the real reasoning.
Nevermind that she'd managed to cause Mandark's newly dug hole relating to sentient computer viruses to get bigger. If Dexter missed that, his reputation was unfounded.
(OOC: Momoko's working. X3)

There was still a smile on Mr. Copycat's face, albeit one filled with pain, as he responded. "...My son... is not human. He's a half-breed of two species... one doppelganger, one human. I am a member a species that acts more like an organization. As a bit of a hazard of our... abilities, we sometimes father or mother children." He looked up at Uno. "His hands are like that because of me."
He sighed. "About a year ago, one of their lead researchers discovered that it was possible to awaken shapeshifting abilities in the half-breed children. Apparently the process isn't perfect though... I finally rescue my son from their clutches, and he comes close to death because of it. I can't win."
This had been probably the only time Mr. Copycat had broken down like this in a while. If there was one thing that could get to him, it was something happening to his pride and joy.
((OOC: Note the usage of doppelganger here.))

Dexter blinked at the growing hole, then at Uno. He then threw a pout at the ever sarcastic Mandark, and carefully listened to Mr. Copycat's story. Unlike most people would, Dexter did not rush to comfort the man, figuring he needed his space, and instead mused over the story.
"...interesting... doppelgangers, you say..."
(Not being very involved in your RPs, not sure what that means, FF XD)

There was a pause from Mandark. His expression went blank for a moment. Alright. Mr. Copycat had his attention, now.
"...tell me more about these... 'Doppelgangers'."

Uno tilted her head sideways. Doppelgangers... where had she heard that term before. She seemed almost broken for a few moments when her eyes widened. She stood up and waved her arms around as if somewhat panicked.
"W-wait a minute! Aren't those the things that you have a bunch of data on? Connected to aliens or something?" Uno looked a little fearful. The data had been fragmented, but it was one of the areas of Mandark's files that was for the most part unharmed. But she remembered the little she had run across making her fearful. It was irritating she hadn't been able to read it very well, though.

Mr. Copycat sighed, and sat hunched over, looking at the ground. That pained smile was gone now.
"Doppelgangers are shapeshifting creatures native to the Dimensional Island. They were the original inhabitants of this island. They have the ability to turn into and to absorb different people. They despise sentient creatures, and wish to take over the entire multiverse." He said. "To do this, they manipulate the sentients to the point where they don't trust even their own species, and finally, it leaves them defenseless. After all, they usually take themselves out by the time the HQ gets to that particular dimension.
"Some of us, like myself, are defective, though," Mr. Copycat explained. "Doppelgangers are not supposed to have emotions like happiness and love. If they do, it's because they're very immersed in their job. I'm considered defective because I have a weakness to the only things that can tell the difference between a Doppelganger and the Sentient it's transformed into. That weakness (or allergy, call it whatever you choose) is why I have to walk with a cane. The HQ does not appreciate defectives though, and most of us are... fired."

"...hmm." Dexter absorbed the information. These doppelgangers sounded like a very self-destructive speices. He'd had to be wary of their existence; there was no telling how dangerous a situation would be with such a creature thrown into the mix.
"Emotions as a weakness?" Dexter smirked. "Not the first time I've heard that. I could understand the logic in that reasoning, but there's an awful lot of moral argument against it." He looked over Mr. Copycat. "...I would say you're better off. No sense in staying on a sinking ship."

Now he was certain of things. These creatures sounded exactly like Fuse's minions back where he came from. He'd left to the Dimensional Island during the beginning of the attack, and as such, knew only the basics of the creatures. And they sounded very much like the 'Doppelgangers' Mr. Copycat spoke of. He missed the subtle(and the gaping) differences, however. As, you know. Left during the beginning of the attack and all that.
"So THIS is where the beasts originate from... almost makes me wonder why YOU," Mandark began, turning to Dexter, "Seem so adamant on saving it."

Uno glanced at Mr. Copycat. She tilted her head sideways, remembering the bit of data she'd read. She looked over at Mandark before turning back to the visitor, "What's your true form look like?"
Because, lo and behold, she had allowed logic to interfere with Mandark's theory. If she recalled the data right, the creatures were green. Mr. Copycat, obviously, wasn't. So didn't that conflict somewhere? Of course, it was entirely possible her player's lack of Fusion Fall canon means that the Fuse clones weren't always green. We'll blame it on Uno's inability to read most of Mandark's programming, 'k?
And then a slight "thumk" sound came from the room Momoko was in. Followed by a bit of smoke streaming out of the cracks in the door...

Mr. Copycat turned to Dexter. "Oh... I guess I should explain what fired means in this context. To be fired means to be killed, mutilated, burned, slaughtered, holocausted-- oh wait, that's not even a word... Anyways, take your pick."
When Uno asked her question, Mr. Copycat looked a bit uncomfortable. "...I don't like showing it... but if you insist."
He stood up and balanced himself on his cane before his features slowly began to shift. The suit disappeared and his body became metallic and only vaguely humanoid, his fingers changing into long blue claws, his feet changing to something stubbier. His entire midsection sunk away, revealing his spine and what looked like ribs sticking out of the bottom section of the spine. His hair was gone, his eyes had become wide and pupilless, and his mouth oddly jagged looking. Oddly enough, he had a large black top hat on his head.
"I don't really like this form," Mr. Copycat said. His voice had a bit of a metallic sound to it too. "It scares people."

Dexter blinked, only slightly horrified, and hiding it well. "...I can see why."
Even more interesting, however, was Mandark's question. Green creatures?
He couldn't mean...
(Okay... THIS is going to make things fun. XD When I have the chance, I'm gonna go back and change Dexter's history; he'll be coming to Dimensional Island AFTER the whole Fusion invasion, when he isn't needed as much. But since Mandark is from the BEGINNING of the war, we'll have all kinds of fun with the time paradox. XDDDD Lemme know if it's too complicated, and I'll scrap the idea and come up with something else.)
