Todd smiled before bringing the bow across his viola. The sound it made seemed to fuse bass and viola sounds.
Todd even caught himself singing along in harmony with the tune.
Yang's jaw slacked a little as she listened to the rhythm.
Beth smirked. "Fine by me," she called to Juno.

Mickey observed calmly. Other than occasionally raising his eyebrows a few quarter inches, he seemed to have no outward reaction to the duet.
Cat simply forced herself to enjoy it, swaying gently to the beat of the familiar song.
Once she reached the deck of the PPP 3.0, Juno turned around slightly and took a moment to listen. Then she shrugged it off and started climbing the ladder to the diving board.

(Just an example of what Rio's doing.)
Rio played along in sync, leaving the lower notes and singing to Todd while he played what would've been the guitar part. Then came the techno breakdown. He stomped to the beat, he strummed the solo on his mandolin note for note, and darn it if he didn't do it to perfection.
Paul was awestruck, his grin impossibly wide as he listened to the wondrous sounds. Much the same, Harley took to rocking slightly in a little dance.

Todd happily kept playing.
Beth hummed along as she watched the pair.

Even during Rio's solo, Mickey showed no emotion. He was good at that. He did turn slightly so he could see Cat grinning smugly at him in a silent, sarcastic offer of good luck.
Juno, meanwhile, took a leap of faith off the diving board. When she was unable to find a comfortable position in which to land, she ended up belly-flopping onto the lake's surface with an audible smack and a gargled "OW!" before sinking beneath the water.

Well... A little extra showing off wouldn't hurt. Once Rio got around to playing his solo again, he spiced up his performance with a little bit of illusion, creating multicolored glimmers of light all around him like a fireworks display. And even with half of his energy dedicated to this little show, his mandolin playing was still spot on.
Paul mouthed a silent "Wow" as he watched, still totally enraptured.
Harley was downright mesmerized by the whole performance, mostly impressed with Rio's skills. She didn't even take any notice of Juno's predicament out on the lake.

Todd brought his bow off the strings and gave a short bow. "Nice touch with the lights, Rio," he offered.
Yang stood there quietly.
Beth nodded.

Mickey still did not give his opponents the slightest positive reaction. Cat, on the other hand, started a half-hearted clap. "Alright, whoo. Nice job, guys."
Juno did eventually swim back up to the surface, perfectly fine despite her comic mishap. When she looked over to the beach and realized no one had even tried to help her (not that she even needed anyone to), she scowled and swam back over to the metal deck to try the slides. "Dicks."

"Thank you," Rio humbly replied, bowing alongside Todd.
Paul, his smile never faltering, gave them a nod and a thumbs-up. "Nice!"
Harley was extremely enthusiastic, showering the duo with thunderous claps and cheers. "Bravo! That was amazing!"

"I believe that it is your go, Mickey," Todd offered curious to see what he would do.
"I've heard better," Yang offered before nodding to Mickey.
Beth nodded before heading over to the PP 3.0.

For a while, Mickey said nothing and looked over his shoulder. He could clearly see the sun sinking beneath the horizon, a sight that brought a devilish smirk to his face. He then turned back to face Rio and Todd and finally spoke. "I'm going to enjoy this much more than I should."
He hovered slightly off the ground, his powers quickly returning, as he scrolled through his MP3 player for his song of choice. Cat raised an eyebrow, though she quickly deduced what was going on. Mickey wasn't one to be out-shown, particularly by Rio, and seeing the mage use his powers would easily compel the vampire raccoon to do the same tenfold. "Ho boy."
From the top of the ladder to one of the water slides, Juno curiously looked to the beach again. "Okay, now what?"

As he watched Mickey sort through his music rectangle, something compelled Rio to shoot his teammate a smug grin, as if he was fully confident that Mickey couldn't top his and Todd's performance.
Paul blinked in mild surprise when Mickey started hovering, his confusion only escalating upon hearing Cat's quip. "What? What's he doing?"
Though she didn't say it, Harley was clearly on Rio and Todd's side on this one. That cover of theirs was perfect; couldn't be topped. She wasn't anticipating anything more than Mickey trying to sing over some toned-down karaoke version of whatever song was popular that week.

Todd kept a straight face. He returned a look to Rio reading 'Don't get cocky'.
'This should be good,' Yang thought. 'He can easily top their cover.'
Beth walked up to the P.P. 3.0. "Mind me joining you?" she asked to Juno.

"Eh. No problem," Juno plainly responded before sliding down.
Once Mickey had his song selected, he cast a borderline psychotic grin specifically at Rio. He raised his paws, black mist forming and spreading out from the tips of his claws. Cat had already braced herself long before the music started, slowly building from a hushed buzz to a disturbing drone that engulfed the group through her handheld surround sound. Mickey sang in an odd tone that sounded like a scream but had the volume of a whisper, the ice in his voice increasing with the music...
"The madness in me
The madness in me
The madness in me
The madness in me
The madness in me"
The music built, then came to an abrupt halt. And then...
KABOOM
In time with the sudden rock riff, an aura of darkness exploded out of Mickey, surrounding the group in a writhing, swirling torrent of shadows.

As soon as Mickey started summoning his shadows, Rio's enthusiasm instantly dropped. "Oh no. No, no, no, Mickey, DON'T YOU DARE-!"
Too late. The music had begun and Mickey had taken his shadow beast form. Rio stood there rigid and even quite terrified. He knew of the destructive capacity Mickey had in this form, and even if the raccoon's intentions amounted to little more than showing off, Rio was fully prepared for the worst.
"GAH! What the...?!" Likewise, Paul was scared out of his wits, leaping back a few feet upon the initial eruption of darkness, then stumbling forward to avoid the jet black tendrils that quickly surrounded them.
Harley was too stunned to react at first, then she took a defensive stance as if anticipating this dark creature to turn on them.
