Ed cocked his head. "Them?" he asked. "Are you an extra terrestrial?"
"Isn't that rude to just say?" Mackenzie asked him. Danny shrugged, his eyes closed.
"Aren't we all extra terrestrial compared to this island?" he asked. It seemed silly, but the man did have a good point.

Enlightenment laughed at Ed's question. "Nein, silly! I am a Præt'nos. I am a demon. Und I am still vaiting for zat vanilla malt."
Toby's expression further tightened into a hard scowl. "What're you doing here?"
"Vhy, Toby, I am only here to socialize. Is it so wrong of me to seek some quality time with vone of my own?"
The sound of Toby's hand slamming down on the bar cracked across the room like thunder. "You...! You shut up! I am not...!"
"Goodness gracious, Toby, calm down," Enlightenment giggled, completely unfazed by his tantrum. "You're making a scene, dear boy."

A shy guy walked out of the back, placing it on the counter and shuffling back in. "One of your own?" Danny asked.
"So... does that make you... a demon?" Mackenzie asked.
"Cool!" Ed smiled. "Ooh, ooh! Are you one of those demons that wishes he wasn't a demon and wants to rid himself of his powers?" While Ed was primarily a monster movie buff, it could be argued that demons were monsters as well.

"Nein. Ve are a race of rare and powerful demons who roam zhe void in search of new places to call home," Enlightenment answered sweetly before accepting her malt. "Ah. Danke schön."
"NO!" Toby shouted much too loudly. "I'm no- I-I'm not a demon!" He scowled at Enlightenment again. "I'm not one of you."
The redhead nonchalantly sipped her malt before calmly asking, "Are you so sure about zhat?"
"Yes!"
"Toby, you and I both know zhat you don't know. I know, but vhere vould zhe fun be in just telling you?" She giggled a bit and resumed drinking, gleefully pretending to not see the rage on Toby's face.

"Oh... looking for a new home..." Ed gave a sheepish smile, sweating near instantly. He knew exactly what that meant in all of the alien movies.
"Hmm... why search for a new home?" Mackenzie asked. Ed's smile drooped to a frown, Danny just going to serve other patrons, his tiny army of shy guys helping.

Enlightenment just laughed at Victoria's order. "I am only trying to help out a friend."
"I just met you!"
"Vell, who's to say a friendship still couldn't happen? For zhat matter... who's to say which one of us is zhe bad guy here? At least I am managing to keep mein head on straight."
Toby just dropped his head into his hand, averted his gaze, and pushed his glass down the bar as if to silently ask for a refill.
Turning her attention on Ed and Mackenzie, Enlightenment politely answered, "It's simple, really. Our numbers are alvays expanding, and ve have but one meager city to call home. Ve are alvays in need of more living space for our people."

Danny took the glass, both Ed and Mack having different reactions. Ed, as usual, was stuck to the notion of mass demonic invasion- while Mackenzie...
"Hmm... So, I take it you integrate yourselves with a new society?"

"They turn lost souls into demons, consume universes with darkness and integrate them into their communal mind," Toby grumbled.
Enlightenment blinked and slightly dropped her smile, not completely but at least into a calmer expression. "Vell... Just kill all zhe fun, vhy don't ve, Toby?"
"Speak for yourself, ya Fun Nazi."
"Ha ha, jokes about me being German. Haven't heard zhat vone before."

The next time someone looked towards Ed and Mackenzie, Ed was tucked behind the young teen, staring at her from behind Mackenzie's sailor hat. "That's... an interesting way to find a new home," she uttered. Not to mention creepy... No wonder Ed's freaking out- she sounds like something out of a bad sci-fi movie I watched once.
Danny passed a new drink to Toby. "Your refill," he offered.

"Thanks..." Toby murmured, taking the juice and immediately guzzling it down as if to drown out the world around him.
"Honestly, I don't know vhat all zhe fuss is about," Enlightenment offered with a casual shrug. "I come in here just vanting a milkshake and some friendly conversation with Herr Toby, and suddenly everyvone in zhe room is pointing zheir guns at me. If I vas here to pick a fight, zhe fight vould have already begun." She took a sip of her milkshake and added, "Communal mind or not, a girl must have some time to herself now and zhen, ja?"
