Discussions about Trolls and the Constellations

OKAY EVERYONE, for this thread, we're going to be doing things a little bit differently. First, I shall post up an interesting idea where I spell out in fanboyish rambling better then I could here in retrospect and we discuss it further in this thread, you shall see what I mean below.

But with how the session is lining up, I may be stuck with Serpens... since Evan is not present and thinking about it now.... it sounds like i'm just being nitpicky for no reason....

SO YEAH, this sounds like a very interesting thing!

And honestly, the more I think about it, the more sense it makes. What if the trolls DID become legends like is implied they did? I mean, we're already traveling in that direction with our Good Ending!Characters, so WHY NOT? It's not like it isn't outside the realm of possibility in Homestuck either. We just haven't got to see the world created as reward for all of that hard work yet.

But consider that, in one of Hussie's past works, known infamously today as 'Problem Sleuth' something interestingly similar does in fact occur. All of the heroes save the world and leave a gigantic mark on the world itself. One of the final few pages states that PS will be immortalized for his victory over the final boss for instance. I think in the end, this somewhat spells out the pay-off the trolls got in the new world, even if it wasn't really the pay-off they were hoping for. Rather then becoming gods, their marks were immortalized as the constellations and the Zodiac symbols symbollic of each one.

But I've talked enough, discuss and compare people.

Yeah, sorry but, this does seem like a mess and a half. There are only 10(estimated, there SHOULD be 10 at about a certain point) trolls, how can you get the 1000s and 1000s of kanji characters out of that? Unless each troll has like, 100 kanji ascribed to them, which is a thing I am even less willing to do. And if that explains the genesis of kanji, what about katakana? Hiragana? Hiragana and katakana were both made before kanji, with kanji as a simpler form(mainly a counterpart to katakana).

I guess my vote doesn't really have any sway, seeing as my troll is functionally dead at this certain future point you're implying. But um... yeah, no. I'm just gonna straight up say no. There are other ways to affect the universe. What if it was not the stars affected, but the animals?

All of the trolls as of yet are based on animal constellations. All of them. I just checked. I dunno what we'd do with that, as I've just realized this as I type, but there's something there. Maybe uh, maybe the game created these creatures in their honor, and they continue to symbolize stuff today? I dunno. I just woke up.

We cant just base every troll on pre-existing constellations either. Beth just wants her troll to stick out a bit compared to the many similarly iconed fan trolls, and lets be real here: serpens is the only option for a snake constalation. Why not use something a bit different?

I could've sworn the trolls used the Zodiac myself, but perhaps that was something I mistook. It was fairly early in the morning when I wrote all of this so it seemed like a good idea at the time.

I won't lie though, coming back to find ARGUMENTS on this subject was the last thing I was expecting.

Hey guys, I got an idea for a compromise on the symbols.

What if the trolls’ symbols simply showed up sometimes on stuff that was important to them in the new universe?
(EX: Orcana loves money, so sometimes her symbol, Delphinus, shows up on a bank)

And as for Dmis- there's also Hydra and Hydrus for snake symbols. Chamaeleon and Lacerta exist as general reptile symbols. Alternatively, you could modify the Serpens symbol to look more unique.

Oh, no arguments, just a discussion. Just using my useless wide compendium of little trivias for something, for once. I still honestly don't see what good would come of breaking the motif. They'd just stick out like a sore thumb. And Serpens, if you really feel that has to be the constellation (?), can be used very well.

You don't think all of our constellations have been overused? Out of curiosity, last night, I looked up "homestuck columba fantroll". There were dozens upon dozens. One even had cerulean blood, as Kamulo does. No matter what you do to try and avoid it, someone has already used that symbol, twice, with a fuschia-blood. The point is what you, uniquely you, do with it.

It isn't my call, though. This troll is yours. So do as you wish.
