OKAY EVERYONE, for this thread, we're going to be doing things a little bit differently. First, I shall post up an interesting idea where I spell out in fanboyish rambling better then I could here in retrospect and we discuss it further in this thread, you shall see what I mean below.
--------------------
[12:35:45 AM] Ryo: He also says, You can do her however you'd want. Honestly, I'd love to see a Troll with Kanji. XD
[12:36:13 AM] Ryo: Plus it'd be a neat, subtle way to show how she was imparted to the human world.
[12:36:25 AM] Cheesecake: Never said my troll's gender
[12:36:34 AM] Ryo: Or, them.
[12:36:47 AM] Ryo: You can do them.
[12:40:32 AM] Ryo: But really- I think it'd be awesome. Trolls having an impact on making modern language? Yes please. ^^
[12:45:42 AM] Cheesecake: -chuckles- maybe this one was seen as an Oni.
[12:46:10 AM] Ryo: Oooh, also possible.
[12:46:21 AM] Ryo: what does the kanji for snake look like?
[12:46:49 AM] Ryo: oop, found it. XD
[12:47:26 AM] Ryo: Squint a little, and it does look like many snakes coiled together.
[12:49:29 AM] Cheesecake: You are a derp.
But with how the session is lining up, I may be stuck with Serpens... since Evan is not present and thinking about it now.... it sounds like i'm just being nitpicky for no reason....
[12:50:31 AM] Aaron Colvard: WELL....
[12:50:36 AM] Aaron Colvard: Let's think about it a second.
[12:50:48 AM] Cheesecake: Okay
[12:51:21 AM] Aaron Colvard: Clockwork isn't a rehash of Lord English and due to such, we're not introducing Cherubs to have it all make sense.
[12:51:58 AM] Aaron Colvard: And numerous times when we show the GoodEnding!Heroes, we have them take note that their roles in the game have somehow been added to the world's mythology.
[12:52:37 AM] Aaron Colvard: ... We've been approaching a lot of things differently for our session so... Why not the trolls?
[12:53:11 AM] Aaron Colvard: XD For comedy factor, the trolls can even use the kanji for their official marks and others complain that the symbols are basically chicken scratch and have no real meaning at all.
[12:53:38 AM | Edited 12:52:42 AM] Aaron Colvard: Fastforward to after their game, the human world is somehow created instead, and these 'mysterious symbols' actually craft ENTIRE WRITTEN LANGUAGES.
[12:54:07 AM] Ryo: That is adorable in the fairy tale way!
[12:54:19 AM] Cheesecake: Some trolls are already on the island.
[12:54:34 AM] Aaron Colvard: I'm not saying we change the constellation bit.
[12:54:46 AM] Cheesecake: Fair
[12:54:47 AM] Aaron Colvard: That part is VERY ingrained in troll creation and the fandom.
[12:55:07 AM] Cheesecake: So ingrained.....
[12:55:08 AM] Aaron Colvard: What I'm saying is, if we have trolls with different marks, it all makes sense in a round about way.
[12:55:24 AM] Aaron Colvard: Like, the reason the constellations even EXIST is because the trolls used them.
[12:55:35 AM] Aaron Colvard: The constellations are that legendary.
[12:55:57 AM] Aaron Colvard: So if one used kanji and played the game, it would explain how an ENTIRE WRITTEN LANGUAGE somehow came to be.
[12:56:50 AM | Edited 12:55:59 AM] Aaron Colvard: Basic synopsis, in even the smallest things the do, say or show, the trolls BECOME THE METAPHORICAL GODS OF THE NEW WORLD IN SOME WAY SHAPE OR FORM, just like the goodend!characters do.
[12:57:13 AM] Cheesecake: Fair enoug
[12:57:18 AM] Cheesecake: *enough
[12:57:34 AM] Ryo: and since this new world the human players make, is just the one the trolls made BUT REVIVED.
[12:57:51 AM] Ryo: The Kanji still stands. XD
[12:58:32 AM] Cheesecake: Fair
[12:58:41 AM] Aaron Colvard: What do you think Beth? XD
[12:59:28 AM] Cheesecake: I like the idea. Just not sure if I should go forward with it.....
[12:59:44 AM] Aaron Colvard: Are you kidding? IT'S BRILLIANT.
[12:59:55 AM] Aaron Colvard: Look, Beth,
[1:00:24 AM] Aaron Colvard: The Huss pretty much says outright that he meant Homestuck to be a Modern Day CREATION MYTH
[1:01:10 AM] Aaron Colvard: So there's no reason why this idea CAN'T work. In fact, any Homestuck wannabe author could make something great if they put serious thought into it for that same reason.
[1:01:25 AM] Ryo: Mmhmm. ^^
[1:01:31 AM] Aaron Colvard: I think you SHOULD go through with this. If you want to, then by all means DO IT. We're all behind you.
-------------
SO YEAH, this sounds like a very interesting thing!
And honestly, the more I think about it, the more sense it makes. What if the trolls DID become legends like is implied they did? I mean, we're already traveling in that direction with our Good Ending!Characters, so WHY NOT? It's not like it isn't outside the realm of possibility in Homestuck either. We just haven't got to see the world created as reward for all of that hard work yet.
But consider that, in one of Hussie's past works, known infamously today as 'Problem Sleuth' something interestingly similar does in fact occur. All of the heroes save the world and leave a gigantic mark on the world itself. One of the final few pages states that PS will be immortalized for his victory over the final boss for instance. I think in the end, this somewhat spells out the pay-off the trolls got in the new world, even if it wasn't really the pay-off they were hoping for. Rather then becoming gods, their marks were immortalized as the constellations and the Zodiac symbols symbollic of each one.
But I've talked enough, discuss and compare people.
What do you think is the true ultimate personal reward that Sburb grants you?
