It was Luke's turn to once again be confused as he answered Crono. "You mean, you don't know? But they were all over the place back home..." It occured to Luke that either this guy had been living under a rather large rock back in Auldrant, or he wasn't from Auldrant at all...
"Well, yeah, I guess copy's a way to put it. They're copies of other people made using seventh fonons," Luke said. He sounded a little downcast as he said that. Well, he still had problems with replicas. They were people, but they didn't deserve this kind of life.
Which made him think of Jade. Oh man, Jade was going to be pissed when he found out about this. Luke knew that Jade had re-continued his fomicry research after Van was defeated at Eldrant, but he also knew that Jade had been very much against making human replicas. Which meant it was probably some corrupt researcher who had made Kid. Maybe someone trying to pick Van's plans back up.

Crono blinked again. He lifted his hand to his head and rubbed his temple. Other time periods were always such a pain in the ass. He usually wasn't by himself. Hell, he'd only been by himself once, and would have gotten himself arrested four hundred years prior to his own time had Marle not interfered. Or "Leene." Man those two could have been twins if it weren't for more mature way of acting Leene had. Anyhow, he chose not to comment on the Seventh Fonon comment. It was probably a sign of the times.
"Copy of other people? Why would anyone-"
Crono paused. No, he could come up with a few reasons. One big one. One big one directly relating to the girl on the ground next to Luke. He could have seen Magus pulling something like that. The man wasn't always stable when it came to his sister. Stable people didn't summon what they considered to be god-beings in some hope to get revenge or die trying. And if he had died trying, Magus would have likely undid reality... all over Schala. Crono shook his head.
Kid had finally picked up the vest and was looking at it. The fabric was a lower quality than the jacket she had on. It was rougher, and Kid was frowning at it. Crono glanced at her as he finished shaking his head and frowned. If she was just a copy, she didn't seem to have Schala's memories. It was awful. His eyes widened however, and his current train of thought jumped to a different track.
"How sure are you that isn't Schala...?"
Crono's eyes were fixated on the pendant hanging from Kid's neck. Crono had only known two people in history who owned that pendant. The princess of the Guardia of his era and the princess of the fallen Kingdom of Zeal. Marle had gotten the pendant back after their adventures, so he couldn't pull it out to compare, but that pendant was quite clearly the same one. Kid didn't seem aware she was being stared at. Maybe it really was amnesia...

Luke was still looking away from Crono and looking toward Kid as Crono asked his question and Kid picked up the vest. Kid's pendant had finally come into full view when Kid sat up, and Crono had reacted to it.
"Sure enough. The way she's acting is a lot like how..." There was a slight pause before Luke continued. "...I acted after I was created. She doesn't know how to do anything. She can't even walk."
That was how Luke had made his decision that Kid was a replica. She lacked the knowledge of how to do practically anything at all. She was a complete blank state.
The bastard who'd made her was going to pay when Luke found him.

Crono wasn't sure to believe Luke. Well, no, he was sure Luke thought he was right. He didn't seem like he'd lie. The man had a sword, he could probably fight, but unless he actually saw him do so he couldn't be sure how well he could. He listened as Luke paused and then dropped his truth. Crono hesitated a moment and then rubbed the back of his head again.
"She can't walk, huh? Still, that pendant is something only Schala would have. I can't imagine how she got it..." Crono paused, "Actually... hey, if she's really a copy, could that phonin thing have left her alive?"
It was rather possible Schala had given the pendant to her "replica". More than likely, even. Crono had never really figured out how the pendant got passed down into the Guardian line. From what his friends had said, she had used its power to save them after he got himself killed. Meaning it would have gone wherever she went. But Schala had seemed so self-sacrificing, if she had met her copy, she might have given the pendant to protect her.
Kid had unwrapped the vest and was now wearing it as a sort of blanket. Her lower body was covered now. She was watching the scene without saying much. The material was icky, but it was warmer than what Luke had given her. She glanced at a moth and watched it with more interest than what was going on with Crono and Luke. As for Luke's line about being created, Crono had noticed it but not said anything. Actually, it was part of why he'd asked his question. If Luke was a replica, maybe he knew the person he'd been copied from.

Luke thought about it. Replica data extraction didn't always lead to death; it was entirely possible. He looked back toward Kid, and then over at Crono.
"Yeah, she might still be alive," Luke said. Asch had still been alive after he'd been replicated, after all. Though there were still side effects of replication. It was possible Kid was a perfect isofon of her original. Maybe not now, but eventually, either her or her original will die, and the other will merge with the first. Of course, that counted on her original still being alive, which Luke thought was possible.
Another chill wind blew through the valley, and Luke rubbed his arms.
"...I think my stomach's going to freeze if we're out here any longer," Luke said. "And we need to get some real clothes on her, too." He pointed to Kid.

Crono nodded. He was going to operate on that assumption, the pendant was a hard thing to ignore. Still, Luke had said she couldn't do much. Getting her somplace warm would be a hassle. Crono looked around. He didn't see anything that looked like it even could be a cave. It would be easy enough to start a fire with his magic, but they'd have to find a place to clear the ground for that. Starting a valley fire wasn't a good idea, after all.
"Name?"
Kid had at some point gotten bored with the moth and looked back towards Crono. He looked towards her. He'd introduced himself twice... then again, back to what Luke had said about her. He gave a relaxed smile.
"Crono."
"Kid!"
Crono thought for a moment she was calling him a kid, but he rearranged the situation in his head. He glanced at Luke. Well, if she was Schala she had a hardcore case of amnesia. If she was a replica like Luke said, then it was possible she didn't have any memories. Luke had probably called her Kid so she'd actually have a name. He continued talking to Luke.
"If you could get that overshirt on her, it should reach far enough to cover... well... Jeez, Marle would kill me if she saw this..." Crono shook his head, "Ah, as for shelter, I can start a fire if we can find a place for it. Swords aren't exactly made for digging firepits, y'know?"

Luke sighed. "Looks like it's back to sleeping on the ground again," he complained. He was going to miss his bed. He looked over at Crono, and then walked over to Kid, where he crouched down next to her and very carefully unbuttoned the jacket, making sure not to look directly at Kid as he did so, and once it was unbuttoned, Luke very carefully pulled it off of her and set it to the side.
He picked up Crono's shirt and turned to Kid, being very careful to focus on her face and not to look down. Man, he wished Tear was here so she could do this and save him the embarrassment.
"Could you hold your arms up for this, Kid?" Luke asked. His face was still redder than an overripe tomato. Luke decided to scratch the previous thought he'd had about Tear. If she were here, he'd never hear the end of it.

Crono coughed and turned away. At least Luke was handling it. He was wishing things long the same line Luke was. His two friends from his era were female. Well, Ayla probably wouldn't have been a good choice either. At least his jacket was a full cover. Ayla had always been a bit underclad. The men in her tribe had worn more clothes than she had. Then again, it was still more clothes than Scha-Kid had been wearing. That was gonna take a while to get used to.
Kid snatched up the jacket and held it. Even if the thing Crono had given her was warmer, Luke's jacket felt nicer. She gave him a look as if to say he better not take it from her and set it in her lap, lifting her arms when told to. She tilted her head a bit at Luke's face. She focused for a moment before using the word that seemd to best fit the situation.
"Hurt?"

Luke blinked as Kid took his jacket and held it close to her. "H-Hey, that's mine!" He sighed. He'd get it back from her after she was somewhat clothed. He pulled the shirt on over Kid, making sure all limbs went through the right holes.
He looked confused as Kid asked if he was hurt. No, not that he could think of. Luke looked away from Kid before he answered.
"No, I'm fine. Now give me back my jacket!" Luke snatched the jacket from Kid's lap now that she was clothed.

Crono looked towards the group as Luke shouted the first time. He might have facepalmed had he not blushed at Kid's nudeness. He jerked his head away and pulled at the scarf around his neck. There may have been a cold air, but he was getting a bit warm. He felt like a pedophile, though. Kid was acting like a kid, and if Luke was right she pretty much was.
Kid looked startled as Luke snatched the jacket up. She managed to get one of the tails as he jerked back, and she yanked it towards herself. She looked pretty stubborn. Crono had turned back as Luke demanded his jacket. He was now sweatdropping. Okay, if Kid really was a kid mentally, that explained her end. But Luke seemed mature enough, and yet the two were now having a tug of war over the jacket. It was like two kids playing arguing over some toy or something...
"My!" Kid shouted back at Luke.
Crono facepalmed. Oh yeah, definently like little kids. He didn't know how amnesia worked, but he realized Luke was probably right. He highly doubted Schala would have acted like that even without her memories. He cleared his throat to try and get their attention. It didn't work on Kid's end.

Luke pulled even harder once Kid grabbed a hold of one of the tails of the jacket. Great, at this rate she was going to tear it off. And that was some really expensive fabric too. Plus it wasn't like Luke knew how to fix tears like that.
"Come on! I'm gonna freeze if you don't give that back!" Luke said. He looked up as Crono cleared his throat, and that was all that was needed for him to lose focus long enough for the jacket to be pulled from his grasp. He looked back at Kid, stared at her for a moment, and then gave up before standing up again.
"Yeah? What's up?" Luke asked.

Crono glanced at Kid. She was now hugging the jacket. He'd seen actions like that before. Luke was not getting that back anytime soon. Luke had said Kid didn't know how to do basic things. She was acting like a little kid. All together, it meant Kid had probably formed some kind of security blanket attachment to the poor man's jacket. He might've chuckled if the issue of Schala vs Kid wasn't still overshadowing things. He looked back at Luke.
"You might be better just letting her have it," Crono scratched a bit under his headband, "I mean, like you said, she's like a little kid. I mean, I'm sixteen and I know its a better idea to just give it to her. You're the adult, here..."
Crono had no idea how wrong he was. Still, they needed to find a place for a fire pit. It was probable Luke thought his method of starting a fire would take a while. After all, magic wasn't something most knew how to use. Hell, if it weren't for the timehopping he and his friends had done, none of them would. Except for Magus, but he didn't count due to when and where he'd come from.
(OOC: Pausing to allow reactions to Crono's oops. Both of them. XD Luke being an adult and Luke not knowing about magic. XDD)

Luke knew that Crono didn't realize how wrong he was with that line of thought. Luke may have had the appearance of an adult, and he may have had his coming-of-age ceremony (even if he hadn't been there to attend it, and it wasn't technically his), but he was technically only ten years old.
"Uh... yeah, adult. Let's go with that," Luke said. "Hey, I thought you were making a fire pit."
Luke probably came across as a slight bit rude with that statement. However, he hadn't actually seen Crono do anything, and he was starting to freeze. Stupid fancy duke's clothing not being made for anything except Baticul's humid climate.

Crono blinked at Luke's response, but passed it off. It had seemed like a bit of a panicked change of statement, but Luke did seem rather cold. Crono had to wonder about his outfit. Who travelled to a place like this dressed like that. He glanced around. It would be easier if they set one up in a place not covered in grass. He didn't like the idea of using his sword to dig a pit either. He noted a place a bit back from the river that was less covered in grass. He walked over to it.
Kid had looked up as Crono was looking around. She was still clutching the jacket, but she was now interested in what Crono was doing. She seemed to have the attention span of a child. She stayed sitting on the ground, although at least the length of Crono's jacket meant she was sitting on cloth on the ground. She'd managed to shift enough to get into that position during the tug of war. Crono sheathed his sword and glanced back at Luke.
"You might wanna cover her ears. If she reacts like I expect her to, she might freak out."
He turned back to the location he had picked. It would take two strikes. Once to make the pit, and one more a little later after they'd gathered some materials. That bush he'd just hacked to pieces had large enough pieces of wood it looked like it would work fine, but he wanted to get any freak out over what was about to come up out of the way first.
"Ti nala... LIGHTNING!" ("Oh heaven's reach... LIGHTNING!"[/i])
As soon as Crono had begun to speak, there was a slight raise in third fonons about him. The spell had been quick to cast. As he finished up the first half, which Luke would realize was spoken in a language he didn't know yet he could somehow understand, Crono had lifted his hands into the air and gained a slight glow. Out of nowhere a lightning bolt shot out of the sky in front of Crono and where there had been normal ground now stood a lightning impact crater.
Luke would have to react quick. Kid had stared at Crono as he began to speak. More fascinated than before. However, when the bolt had come down she had screeched, the jacket went into the air, and Kid was on her feet... only to collapse again unless Luke was quick enough to try and catch her. At least she was clothed this time, but she seemed panicked. Well, most kids were the first time they experienced lightning.

"Wait, what?!"
Luke hadn't had much time to react before Crono had started casting, and even if he had managed to get over to Kid in time to cover her ears, he wouldn't have been able to prevent her scared scream in reaction to Crono's Lightning spell. At least Luke made it over fast enough to catch Kid before she could collapse again.
Luke looked over toward Crono. Oddly enough, the first thing he said was, "You're a fonist?"
Well, it wasn't like fonists were unheard of. However, the weaker ones were certainly out of a job now that the Planet Storm had been stopped. Most Seventh Fonists especially. Plus, it wasn't often that one saw someone who used both Strike Artes and Fonic Artes equally, and Crono definitely seemed to be a Strike Arte user, just from what Luke had seen of him so far.
