Luke flinched as he saw the temper tantrum Kid was fast going into. He remembered these kind of temper tantrums too. He'd had a couple out of frustration toward Natalia early on, and more than a couple toward Guy. He wondered how Guy had put up with it.
Glenn was trying (and failing) to figure out what Kid meant. The girl seemed very frustrated.
"Do you perhaps mean the spirits resting within the blade?" Glenn asked. Perhaps she was referring to Masa and Mune.
And Luke was just more confused. "The whats in the what?"

And then it was like someone had flicked a switch. Kid stopped kicking her legs, the frustration faded, and she looked at Glenn. She seemed to be thinking about something. She looked away from the sword and then at Glenn, with a quizzical expression.
"Spirit what?"
Crono had winced as Kid began to throw a temper tantrum. Was it really that hard not being able to speak clearly? She didn't seem quite that bothered by not being able to walk, right? And then Glenn had asked his question and Crono's eyes widened. Wait, she could sense something like that? Could Schala do that? Well, those two had been in Zeal... but could Schala do that? He looked at Luke when he talked and looked nervous.
"Ah, it's a really long story..." And Glenn had already tried to lay into him about things he'd said.

It really didn't surprise Luke that it was a "long story." Things often seemed to be like that on both ends of this group. Luke really had to wonder what Crono and Glenn had been up to with their "time travelling." Then again, the situation with the replicas was pretty damn complicated itself.
"There are two spirits resting inside this sword, Masa and Mune," Glenn stated. "I suppose compared to a couple of blades without spirits, that would make the Masamune rather special."
"Hey!" Luke said. The Key of Lorelei was one of the symbol's of Yulia's pact with Lorelei. But most importantly, it was a special weapon that could both gather and disperse fonons. Just because it didn't have a special spirit in it didn't mean it was junk.
Which of course meant that Luke had completely misinterpreted Glenn's comment.

Kid looked very confused, "Inside?"
And then she looked annoyed again. She'd managed to pick up on what the word meant somehow or another, but she didn't get the context. She crossed her arms and pouted for a moment, giving no indication what was wrong. She didn't have the slightest idea how to word this. Although he had understood what she meant. He still hadn't answered her intended question though.
"What spirits? Inside how?" It was as clear as mud, really.
"He wasn't insulting anything!" Crono said hastily in response to Luke's comment, "He just means its different! Ah, how do I explain this... uh, his sword was made with magic?"
Well, kinda sorta. The knife was made by a master weaponsmith and then a bunch of spiritual stuff had kinda morphed it. Masa, Mune, and Lavos. Crono winced a bit. After he'd driven the damn thing into that screwed up device. What had made Zeal think any of that was a good idea? He couldn't get that level of power thirst...

Glenn took a moment to answer Kid. The girl still seemed confused, and the way she was wording her questions was making it hard for him to understand what she was saying. He decided to try explaining it a bit more slowly this time.
"Specifically, they are the sword, if you want to think about it that way," Glenn said. The two spirits had certainly referred to themselves as such more than once.
Aaand there was that word again. Luke scowled. So if magic was kinda like fonic artes, then their swords were similar, in a way. Luke just didn't actually have Lorelei resting in the Key.
"Well, whatever," Luke said.

Kid frowned. She looked very confused and rather unhappy about it. She looked at Luke's sword, then Crono's, then back to Glenn's. She put her hands on the ground and tried to get to her feet, failing at least three times before she landed on her butt again and crossed her arms with a more annoyed expression than before. She huffed like a little kid who couldn't get their way and looked back at Glenn.
"Spirit is sword?"
She glanced at Luke, and then Crono, and gestured between them. She used the same slight curl to her hand Luke had "taught" her was pointing before. Hand somewhat limp, finger only partially pointing. She looked back at Glenn and did it a few more times.
"Not sword?"
Definently beginning to talk like Ayla.

Glenn was starting to get more frustrated. He continued reminding himself that at the very least, Kid had the mentality of a toddler. Still, her speaking habits annoyed him a bit. She was speaking like Ayla, only with less comprehensibility.
"No, Crono and Luke both have swords. The Masamune is just both a sword and a spirit," Glenn explained.

Crono gave a bit of a silent chuckle at Luke's reaction. It came down to him a lot of the times. He'd never figured out why he was the peacekeeper in the group. However, Luke seemed fine with just being annoyed at the situation. Crono was definently getting vibes there was more to that sword than Luke wanted to say. Possibly how Glenn would react to the Masamune, actually. Being Crono, his thoughts didn't go any further than that.
Kid's eyes had widened as Glenn gave his response. One could all but see the light bulb go off over her head. Her mouth even opened and made a textbook "ooooh" shape to accompany the sound. Once that faded, she seemed very pleased with herself. She broke her concentration on Glenn and began looking around. She gave a huge grin and snatched up Luke's jacket, hugging it. Had this been a drawing, there would have been a heart above her head as she squeezed the poor fabric.
"So... what time was it in your Guardia?" Crono had turned to Glenn now that the situation seemed to be over. If it was still day, Glenn could probably manage to finish up the watch. He looked up towards the moon. Really, it was probably only a few more hours to dawn anyhow. He'd never thanked Ayla for teaching him that...
